Solar and battery for the home
Rooftop panels plus an LFP battery: lights and air conditioning even when the grid is down.
Vietnam: 5 kW — 44–48 million VNDgrid-tied plant without a battery, installer price 2026; with a battery — more
TRL 9
✓RU can be brought in✓VN can be brought in
How it works
By day the panels power the home and charge the battery, and a hybrid inverter decides where to draw energy from. In the evening the home runs on the battery, and the surplus goes to the grid — where that is allowed and paid for.
Fact. Chinese TOPCon panels cost about $0.11 per watt ex-factory — cheaper than ever.
Russia. The best fit: the south, dachas without a reliable grid, and backup in case of outages.
Vietnam. Since 26 Jun 2026 (Decree 243), rooftop surplus can be sold — up to 50% of output, including from a battery.

Industrial battery storage (BESS)
Battery containers for factories, hotels and grids: they shave peaks, hold a reserve and store cheap energy.
Per projectdepends on capacity and use case
TRL 9
✓RU can be brought in✓VN can be brought in
How it works
The system charges at night or from solar and releases energy at peak hours, when it costs more — or during an outage. Software that tracks the tariff and the load runs it all.
Fact. In 2025, 112 GW of storage was deployed worldwide (+48%); 54% of it in China.
Vietnam. Vietnam’s power development plan: 10–16.3 GW of storage by 2030, against less than 100 MW at the start of 2025.

Sodium-ion batteries
Batteries made with sodium instead of lithium: cheaper raw materials and almost no fear of frost.
So far in cars and storage systemsfew retail modules
TRL 8
~RU with caveats~VN with caveats
How it works
Sodium comes from ordinary salt, and there is thousands of times more of it than lithium. CATL Naxtra holds 175 Wh per kg and keeps over 90% of its capacity at −40 °C — for a Russian winter, that is the deciding argument.
Fact. The first production car on sodium — Changan Nevo A06 (February 2026).

Solid-state batteries
The liquid electrolyte is replaced with a solid one: more range, faster charging, lower fire risk.
—no series product
TRL 6
×RU not yet×VN not yet
How it works
A solid electrolyte allows a lithium anode and denser energy packing. The difficulty is manufacturing: the layers must be perfect, or the cell degrades.
Fact. Toyota is aiming for 2027–2028, Samsung SDI for 2027; buyers do not have such cells yet.

Perovskite tandems
A second layer of perovskite on top of silicon catches the part of the light that silicon loses.
—no mass-market panels yet
TRL 5
×RU not yet×VN not yet
How it works
An ordinary panel turns 22–24% of sunlight into electricity. A tandem adds a layer that works in another part of the spectrum — and the lab-cell record is already above 35%.
Fact. LONGi’s record — 35.5% (July 2026).

Next-generation geothermal energy
Energy from hot rock deep underground — where there are no geysers or volcanoes.
—large-scale energy, not a purchase
TRL 8
·a service, not a product
How it works
Wells are drilled into hot rock, fractures are opened in it and water is pumped through: it comes back as steam and spins a turbine. The technology comes from oil production, and the energy flows around the clock.
Fact. The Fervo Cape plant in Utah — 33 MW in commercial operation since 30 Sep 2026; 100 MW — by January 2027.

Small nuclear reactors
Reactors of 50–300 MW that are assembled in a factory and delivered as ready modules.
—state-run energy
TRL 7
·a service, not a product
How it works
A small reactor is easier to cool and easier to protect. The floating plant Akademik Lomonosov has been operating since 2020; China’s Linglong One is going through hot testing.
Fact. Rosatom is building a land-based small nuclear plant with a RITM-200N reactor in Yakutia — launch is planned for 2028.

Nuclear fusion
The energy of stars on Earth: hydrogen nuclei fuse at a hundred million degrees.

How it works
The plasma is held by a magnetic field so it does not touch the walls. AbsoTech’s color is the color of hydrogen plasma: that is how the future of energy glows.
Fact. China’s EAST tokamak held plasma for 1,066 seconds (January 2025).

The car powers the home
An electric car’s battery sends energy to the home or the grid at peak hours (V2H and V2G).
—requires a V2H-capable car and charging station
TRL 7
~RU with caveats~VN with caveats
How it works
A bidirectional charging station can not only charge the car but also draw energy from it. The battery on wheels becomes a home backup for several days.
Fact. In China’s Hubei province, cars fed 376 MWh into the grid over 21,000 discharges (August 2025 — March 2026).
