“Green” is Sber’s humanoid robot: 180 cm, 75 kg, 41 degrees of freedom, and it talks through GigaChat. Sber showed it in November 2025 and promises a whole line of humanoids. For business in Russia, it is a guidepost for the next few years: its own voice AI, an open control model and even owner’s insurance already exist, but there are no prices or sales yet.
How it works
41 degrees of freedom means 41 axes around which the robot can turn or bend something: shoulders, elbows, wrists, neck, hips, knees, feet. For comparison: a human arm without the fingers has about seven such axes. The more axes, the smoother and more natural the movements — and the harder the task for the program that controls them all at once.
“Green” talks through GigaChat, Sber’s language model. Microphones pick up speech, the system turns it into text, the model understands the question and writes an answer, and speech synthesis says it out loud. That is why the robot holds an ordinary conversation in Russian instead of picking a line from a prepared list. Hence the limit: the robot knows as much as the model itself knows, and makes mistakes the same way it does.
Movement is controlled by Green-VLA, a “vision — language — action” model: camera images and a phrase go in, commands to the joints come out. Sber released it openly under the MIT license, which means any team can download the model, study it and fine-tune it for its own task. And Sber’s insurer SberStrakhovanie has already issued the first liability policy for the owner of such a robot — the question “who is responsible if the robot knocks into something” now has an answer.
Where it already works
- Sber showed “Green” in November 2025 — with the GigaChat voice
- Developers and universities — the open Green-VLA model under MIT for their own robots
- SberStrakhovanie — the first liability policy for the owner of a humanoid robot
- AbsoTech waitlist — we will let you know when Sber opens sales
What to consider
- Not for sale: no prices or sales; humanoid line announcement — 2026
- “Green” is not supplied to Vietnam either — only the waitlist
- An open model is not yet a robot: Green-VLA needs your own hardware and a team of engineers
- Liability insurance is worth thinking through for any humanoid that works near people
